ARCHITECTURAL

{Skirt}Girls from Savoy via Anthropologie, {Faux Stingray Booties}Elizabeth and James via Bergdorf Goodman, {Handbag}Marc Jacobs, {Jewel Collar}Forever 21, {Eye Wear}Asos

Beginning at a young age, I developed a deep love for architecture and all of her components.  I can remember being a student in elementary school with doodles of buildings filling my notebook pages.  My parents recognized my strong interest in this craft and began furthering and nurturing my education through books and a heavy supply of drawing paper and making sure I was always fully stocked with a vast supply of drawing pencils.

Fast forward a few years later and while my path has diverted from becoming an architect it hasn't strayed too far.  In many of the windows I have designed and editorials I've layed out, symmetry is often displayed as well as the use of construction.  The influence of architecture is prominent even in my selection of both garments and accessories.  I gravitate towards pieces that feature strong silhouettes, linear lines and interesting construction.

TWILIGHT

{Sweater and Skirt}3.1 Phillip Lim for Target, {Hat}Lola Hats c/o, {Oxfords}Steve Madden, {Handbag}Marc Jacobs via Bergdorf Goodman, {Eye Wear}Asos

My favorite time of the day is twilight.  I can never seem to get enough of the magnificent shifting of light on display as the daylight turns to night.  I am intrigued by the variations in the sunsets of each season and locale.  On this particular evening, the sky shifted from shades of pink and orange changing to a clear dark blue in a matter of moments.  Magical.

In a previous post, following my visit to the lovely Lola Hats studio in Bushwick, I featured the "Catty" hat from FW13 in additional colors...this is a personal favorite of mine! It is sure to add an instant  "cool" factor to my fall and winter wardrobe!

SMALL TOWN GIRL

I discovered the town of Pawhuska earlier this summer and have been spending a lot of time there these past few months.  The downtown area is incredibly charming and transports me to another time.  There is so much history and beautiful architecture to behold.  It's to no surprise the film industry has taken notice of this quaint little town.  You may recognize it from the film "To the Wonder" and the upcoming "August Osage County".  My favorite buildings there are the Triangle Building and the Courthouse, which I found out were both in danger of being torn down at one point.  I'm so glad they weren't...they are such treasures!

As for my dress, it's one of my favorite vintage finds! It was in the local vintage shop window for about a month and I kept driving by and thinking about it.  It was originally a 1970's long formal but I kept thinking what a great little cocktail dress it would make.  I finally decided to buy it and have been smitten ever since.  Besides the playful print, I just adore the ruffled collar!

FALL INSPO

I adore this look!

With summer winding down, I am already in fall mode and this editorial in the August issue of Elle has heightened my anticipation of cooler temps and layers.  From luxe velvet gowns by Marc Jacobs, to belted gabardine coats by Calvin Klein, to sweet scallops by Valentino and dreamy wool skirts by Tsumori Chisato, fall is looking pretty spectacular.  The styling of the editorial is impeccable and the set design with a neutral palette and hints of blue and red is perfection in supporting the overall nautical look.  I couldn't help but notice a whimsical nod to Olive Oyl throughout the series as well...

DOLLHOUSE

I've had this dress going on four years now but it still remains one of my favorites! It has a very vintage feel to it which I love!

One of the things I love about living here in Tulsa are the unexpected beautiful discoveries.  I experienced them all the time in New York City and have been pleasantly surprised to experience the same here.  I took a different route home several weeks ago and stumbled upon this adorable house that was screaming for a photo shoot.  From the color scheme, door symmetry and a perfectly manicured lawn...I fell in love.

DOWNTOWN DUNGAREES

{Dungarees}Asos {Top}Marni for H&M {Necklace}Vintage {Handbag}Marc Jacobs(old but similar here) {Eye Wear}Ray-Ban

I have been a longtime fan of dungarees.  When I saw these on Asos I knew I had to get them.  I wear a lot of super feminine dresses but I like to mix it up sometimes and let my inner tomboy emerge.   What I love about these is the versatility they present.  Depending on my mood, I will either dress them up with chunky jewelry and heels or wear a basic grey t-shirt and sneakers.  If the solid dungarees don't do it for you there are great ones in patterns as well.  I love this one and this one!

MOD ABOUT TARTAN

{Vintage Plaid Set}via Cheap Thrills Fayetteville {Handbag}Marc by Marc Jacobs Clearly Top Handle Satchel {Eye Wear}Grey Dog Vintage {Heels}Ann Taylor {Heart Ring}Catbird NYC {Nail Color}Essie Tart Deco

I can't seem to get enough plaid this season so you can imagine the elation I felt when I spotted this matching set while on a trip to Arkansas.  I gravitate towards the 1960's when I'm shopping for vintage for several reasons.  The fashion from that decade is full of great prints, interesting construction and an overall playfulness...what's not to love about that! Hope you all are having a Happy Tuesday!

London Calling

{Dress}Vintage via Cheap Thrills Tulsa {Jacket}Forever 21 {Tights}Hue {Handbag}Marc Jacobs

If you were to peruse my closet you would find I have a love for two things...plaid and bows.  I found this amazing 1960's dress at Cheap Thrills in Tulsa, Oklahoma and it was love at first sight. Since moving here from New York City three years ago, I've discovered some amazing vintage shopping here! If you are ever in the area, check out Cheap Thrills and on the weekends, the Flea Market at the Expo Center has buried treasures.
