ARCHITECTURAL

{Skirt}Girls from Savoy via Anthropologie, {Faux Stingray Booties}Elizabeth and James via Bergdorf Goodman, {Handbag}Marc Jacobs, {Jewel Collar}Forever 21, {Eye Wear}Asos

Beginning at a young age, I developed a deep love for architecture and all of her components.  I can remember being a student in elementary school with doodles of buildings filling my notebook pages.  My parents recognized my strong interest in this craft and began furthering and nurturing my education through books and a heavy supply of drawing paper and making sure I was always fully stocked with a vast supply of drawing pencils.

Fast forward a few years later and while my path has diverted from becoming an architect it hasn't strayed too far.  In many of the windows I have designed and editorials I've layed out, symmetry is often displayed as well as the use of construction.  The influence of architecture is prominent even in my selection of both garments and accessories.  I gravitate towards pieces that feature strong silhouettes, linear lines and interesting construction.

The SS14 collection is inspired by laundry. One of the things I found most interesting about Lola and her creative process is it's very organic.  She doesn't start with a singular theme for a collection, rather she creates pieces first and then develops a concept based on what she creates.

A few of the pieces featured in various fashion publications

I few weeks ago while I was in NYC for NYFW, I had the pleasure of visiting the Lola Hats/John studio in Bushwick. I have been an admirer of Lola's creations for several years and was elated to not only see her creative space but to meet her as well.  What started in 1989 as a small storefront has now progressed to a beautiful studio space overlooking the Manhattan skyline.  You may recognize her work as it has been featured in fashion publications such as Vogue, W, Elle, The New York Times Magazine, Marie Claire, to name a a few, and boasts an impressive client list which includes Kate Spade, Ralph Lauren, Phillip Lim and Tommy Hilfiger among others.  What I love about her designs is the beautiful craftsmenship and cool factor each piece radiates.  You can view more of Lola's pieces here!

Special thanks to Lola and Liz for graciously letting me visit the lovely studio

WATERPARK

I love that she is sitting in a sea of empty chairs and repetition

A close-up of Jordan's amazing work

 {Photography}Nathan Presley, {Art Direction}Stacy Suvino and Rachel Everett, {Styling}Shannon Schroeder, {Make Up}Jordan Best, {Producer}Sarah Chorley, {Model}Regan Robertson, {Location}Big Splash Water Park

One of my favorite shoots to date is the one that was photographed for Miss Jackson's spring ad campaign.  I was driving through town and passed by Big Splash Water Park and was immediately intrigued by the idea of using it as the location for the shoot. Something about the lack of water, leaving only the structure of the pool and the desolate surroundings was very beautiful to me.  Most of the fashion that was featured had a very 1960's feel and to accentuate that, we used Twiggy as the inspiration for make up. Throughout the day, we fought freezing temperatures and unrelenting winds...but the end result was worth it!

DOLLHOUSE

I've had this dress going on four years now but it still remains one of my favorites! It has a very vintage feel to it which I love!

One of the things I love about living here in Tulsa are the unexpected beautiful discoveries.  I experienced them all the time in New York City and have been pleasantly surprised to experience the same here.  I took a different route home several weeks ago and stumbled upon this adorable house that was screaming for a photo shoot.  From the color scheme, door symmetry and a perfectly manicured lawn...I fell in love.
