THE WONDERLAND AROUND YOU

{Photography}Jamie Alsabrook {Set Decoration}Stacy Suvino {Wooden Glasses}Rachel Everett and Emily Kern {Make Up}Jordan Best {Models}Rachel Everett and Brielly Hilburn {Location}Tulsa Garden Center {Eye Wear}Black Optical {Wardrobe}Miss Jackson's {Books}Gardner's Books

A few weeks back I collaborated with Darling Magazine and created the set featured above. I scouted several locations but loved the feel of the Southroom Alcove at the Tulsa Garden Center Mansion because of the overflow of natural light and charming wood floors.  I wanted the space to resemble a reading room and it worked beautifully.  I brought in vintage books with colorful patterns in muted tones, card catalogs, a Charles Dickens bust wearing spectacles{my personal favorite}, a Graphonola and large wooden glasses to complete the scene.

The summer issue of Darling Magazine is now available so get your copy here or at select Anthropologie stores.

My beautiful, my beautiful balloon
The world's a nicer place in my beautiful balloon
It wears a nicer face in my beautiful balloon
We can sing a song and sail along the silver sky
For we can fly we can fly
up, up and away

START A REVOLUTION

One of the best parts of being a set designer is being able to create an environment whether it be bringing something back from the past, being in the present or a glimpse into the future.  For this series, a sort of Napoleonic militaria was the inspiration behind the sets as well as the styling.  I spent several weeks researching decor and garments worn by soldiers.  I can't seem to get enough of that part of the research process...I'm such a history nerd! I scouted for props throughout Oklahoma, Missouri and Arkansas as well as Ebay and Etsy.  For the lavish furniture pieces I looked to interior decorator Charles Faudree.

Happy Friday!

REGAL

{Vintage Dress}via Cheap Thrills {Heels}Zara {Earrings}via Mae's Heirlooms {Belt}Asos (old but similar here)

One of my favorite places to seek inspiration locally is the Tulsa Garden Center.  As you enter the cool, quiet foyer you are instantly transported to another time in Europe.  Each room has a personality of it's own boasting intricately carved ceilings, black and white marble floors, a library and detailed mantles to name a few.  One of my favorite rooms there is the Gold Room appropriately named because of it's gold leaf ceiling that evokes old world opulence.
